Hospital Bienfaisance de Pignon
In Haiti’s Central Plateau, where paved roads are scarce and the nearest major city is hours away, Hospital Bienfaisance de Pignon stands as a beacon of hope. Founded as an NGO mission hospital, it is the primary — and often only — healthcare facility for over 250,000 people spread across the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The hospital provides a range of critical services that most communities take for granted: maternal and neonatal care, general surgery, pediatrics, emergency medicine, dental services, and outpatient clinics. For many patients, a visit to Hospital Bienfaisance is the first time they’ve seen a doctor in years — or ever.
Operating in one of the poorest regions of the Western Hemisphere, the hospital relies on a combination of NGO support, donations, and sustainable partnerships like Cafe Pignon. Our goal is to make the hospital less dependent on external aid by building sustainable revenue streams rooted in the community itself.
