Pignon is a small city nestled in Haiti’s Central Plateau, surrounded by mountains that rise above 1,000 meters. For generations, families here have cultivated coffee under the shade of native trees, using methods passed down through centuries. The volcanic soil, abundant rainfall, and high altitude create a terroir that produces coffee with extraordinary depth, sweetness, and complexity.

Yet despite growing some of the Caribbean’s finest Arabica beans, Pignon’s coffee has been largely invisible to the world. Farmers sold their harvests to middlemen at a fraction of the coffee’s true value. The quality — the story, the people, the flavor — was lost in anonymous blends and commodity markets.

The Spark

Cafe Pignon was founded by people with deep roots in Pignon. We saw two things clearly: first, that Pignon’s coffee was world-class, deserving of a stage far bigger than it had ever been given. Second, that the community needed sustainable economic engines — not aid, but real opportunity.

The idea was simple but radical: grow the coffee in Pignon. Roast it in Pignon. Package it in Pignon. Then fly it directly to the United States, bypassing every middleman and preserving every dollar of value for the community that created it.

More Than a Business

Cafe Pignon is built on a foundation of purpose. Every bag of coffee we sell directly supports Hospital Bienfaisance de Pignon, the region’s primary healthcare facility serving over 250,000 people. This hospital provides maternal care, surgery, pediatrics, and emergency services in a region where the next nearest hospital is hours away.

When you drink Cafe Pignon, you’re not just enjoying an exceptional cup of coffee. You’re participating in a cycle of empowerment: farmers earn fair wages, the local economy strengthens, healthcare is funded, and a community moves closer to self-sufficiency.

The Journey Today

Today, our coffee is grown by farming families we know by name. It’s roasted by skilled artisans in Pignon using methods honed over years. It’s packaged with care at our facility in Haiti, then flown by private plane to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where it begins its journey to coffee lovers across the United States.

Every step of this process is designed to maximize quality, freshness, and impact. No commoditization. No anonymity. Just real coffee, from real people, making a real difference.
